The wide staircase leads from the entrance portal to the Großer Keller. Oak furniture, wall panelling and the wrought-iron chandeliers give the three-part guest room in the cross vault a rustic flair. In the entrance area, a chair of over 3 metres welcomes you as a sign of our hospitality and is an invitation to take a seat at one of the brightly polished tables. With approx. 150 seats, the Großer Keller is the second largest guest room in the Ratskeller.

The largest room in the Ratskeller, the Gewandhaussaal (with approx. 180-250 seats), was once used by the musicians of the world-famous Gewandhaus zu Leipzig for rehearsals and performances. Due to its connection with the Wine Restaurant and the Großer Keller, capacities can be expanded at any time according to your requirements.

Our most rustic room, the "Alte Wache" (up to 55 seats), is reminiscent of medieval times in its style. The room was modelled on a castle guard of the Pleißenburg. Torches line the walls, rustic oak benches and tables, earthenware crockery and numerous details recall the time when the Pleißenburg proudly towered over the city centre instead of the New Town Hall.

The Schalander is the room in a brewery where the workers change clothes and stay during breaks. Sometimes the taproom or the beer tasting room is called like this. From the Schalander, a spiral staircase leads directly to the Lower Wandelhalle of the New Town Hall. This allowed the aldermen to go directly to the aldermen's parlour. (up to 36 seats)

Arrival by car
Motorway A14, exit „Leipzig Mitte”. Take road “B2” towards city centre.
After passing “Gerberstraße”, drive into the inner-city ring road until you reach the New Town Hall.
Use the parking garage below the “Burgplatz” (fee required).
By foot at the main station
Leave the station through the West or East Hall and cross the LVB central stop.
Pass “Richard-Wagner-Straße” and walk straight ahead until you reach “Brühl”.
Follow “Brühl” towards to “Katharinenstraße” and now head south.
After crossing market square follow “Petersstraße”.
Turn right at the „Deutsche Bank”-building.
After approximately 100 Meters you reach the New Town Hall thus the Ratskeller.

Tram line 9 exit at “Neues Rathaus”, followed by a 2 minute walk
Tram lines 2, 8,10 and 11 exit at “Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz”, followed by a 5 Minute walk

There are public parking spaces in Lotterstraße. The maximum parking time is 2 hours and costs €3.00 per hour. If you would like to park for longer, we recommend the Petersbogen parking garage, where you can get a daily parking space for €20.00.
Ratskeller Leipzig is a historic venue with a capacity of about 700 seats in seven function rooms. Known for its home-style Saxon cuisine, our restaurant also offers its own beer from its brewery and its own distillates from its own distillery. The Ratskeller is not only a restaurant, but also a venue for various occasions such as weddings, birthdays and corporate parties. A chair over three meters high in the entrance area symbolizes the hospitality of the house. The cordial service rounds off the experience.

The Ratskeller of the city of Leipzig was opened on 1st October 1904 and is undoubtedly one of the city's most traditional venues. It is located in the new city hall, which was built on the foundations of the old Pleißenburg until 1905. Today, the seven dining rooms with a total of 700 seats are the ideal address for Leipzigers, guests from the surrounding area, Germany and from all over the world - whether it's an "à la carte" for two or a celebration with the family or the whole company.
In the past few years, the rustic vaults have been successfully renovated: The kitchen developed into a highly modern workplace, contemporary lighting was installed and the company was fundamentally brought up to date with the latest digital standards. The highly motivated, well-trained and educated team in the individual working departments have been rated highly on various rating portals for many years. The high-quality products are mainly sourced from the Leipzig and Saxony region. Whether on a small or big event, the aim is always to create a first-class and unique experience. That includes an appropriate ambience and setting, as well as cordial and professional service for food and drinks. In 2017 our in-house brewery was opened. Since then we sell our own beer in the restaurant, on events and all over central Germany. Our selection of our brands expanded in 2020 with the distillery “FeinGeist”.
